Effective Sept. 1, 2005, the Lower Rio Grande Authority

is abolished and its assets distributed to the Rio Grande Regional Water Authority, in compliance with House Bill 2639 enacted by the 79th Legislature.

The officers, members, and ex-officio members of the Lower Rio Grande Authority pledge to continue their efforts to bring together all stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to water supply issues in the region.

The irrigation districts that were members of the LRGA encompass more than a half-million acres in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and hold rights to more than 1.37 million acre-feet of water.
