LRGA Organizational Structure

The LRGA was composed of a Conference of irrigation districts from Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties. Conference members selected a Board of Directors, composed of four members residing and owning taxable property in Cameron County, four from Hidalgo County, and one from Willacy County. Directors served staggered two-year terms.

Although full membership was limited to irrigation districts, the LRGA elected to extend nonvoting membership to municipalities and other interested parties.

The LRGA had five standing committees: Legal; Treaty; Regional Water Planning; Bylaws; and Local, Federal, State Representative Committees.

LRGA made the session law that created the Authority as well as the LRGA by-laws (PDF, 207 KB) available on this website.
